Wendy Vuik from the Netherlands made her last World Cup jump today in Falun!

Wendy Vuik says “goodbye”. The 25 year old jumper from the Netherlands made her last World Cup jump today in Falun, before the competition was cancelled. “I competed for ten years and I simply know that this is the right time to quit. I had a lot of fun over the years, especially with the other girls”, she said.

“I jumped behind my own expectations this winter, this is of course one of the reasons for this step. Other nations simply have better training conditions as we do. This is a little frustrating, so I decided to take care of my future now. I want to work as a teacher, so I have to study the next four years,” she said to Ladies-Skijumping.com.

Already a year ago Vuik's team-mate Lara Thomae has also quit her career, so no Dutch jumper remains in the World Cup now. “We don't have any junior girls jumping, so we have to see how the story of ski jumping in the Netherlands continues”, said head coach Bastian Thielmann.

Ladies-Skijumping.com wishes her good luck for the future.
